I would rather see ANET around for a long time and money enables them to keep making expansions for us. This site has way to many b**ching complainers....Just shut up if you guys don't have anything nice to say....bunch of whiny brats....

For those people wanting UAX and not wishing to do the PvE, one phrase:
Put ya money where ya mouth is.
GG Anet, I like it.

A very much needed change of philospophy from Anet and I like it alot. The game is advertised as player skill>time spent grinding, and until now you have had to grind to be competitive in PVP. it doesnt change the PVE game at all, it doesnt alter people who want to use PVE toons having to grind at all, but it means that if i want to jump straight in and be competitive I can do so without having to spend hundreds of hours grinding through a mindlessly dull PVE game

i agree
Doing this hurts no one, gives no one an advantage, and no one is forced to buy. if u want it, then buy it! who cares if its 40 bucks. Its your money, and will save you hours of work trying to unlock the skill normally. As long as everything is balanced, I see it as being a perfectly reasonable offer.
Good job A-net for making money without being unfair to those who chose not to pay extra

Skill packs are a great idea, but the implementation is lacking.
- You still need the to have bought Prophecies to be able to use the skills
- $40 US is almost the price of a whole game
- Only available a looong time after the release of the game, as to not undermine the PvErs sense of achievement

It makes anet money. If anet makes more money from guild wars, they can keep it up and going longer. IMO anet should what they can to make money (but lets not sell fame etc etc... not that u cant buy a ranked account anyway)
Hell mabye if we all buy skill packs theyll fix their damn servers.

Yes, because obviously if you don't want to PvE, or spend thousands of hours unlocking through faction, this game is clearly not for you!

This is an idea that many in the community wanted to save them time and get on with the new characters rather than spend days or hours on end unlocking. Good for community, good for ANET. If you don't like it or don't need it, you don't have to buy it simple as that... whats the point in bitching about others that chose to buy the unlock package? This package does no harm to the GW game/community.

It's not a bad concept, and I think it will only be bad for the game if Arenanet tries to change the game to suit the current price scheme. Factions showed a notable decrease in PvE grind, and if they increase it again to try to make money off this feature that would be an issue.
Options are always good though. It's too high for me to even consider buying, and to get the most out of it they would need to have these packs available on chapter release to be really useful to PvPers. However, something is better than nothing and at least it's a step in the right direction.
Personally, I blame team UAX at the PAX tourney for this change. =p

Any PvP player that is bitching about this and takes himself serious is a candidate for CAT scan of their brain.
ANet gave another option. emphasis: option.
A new pvp player that joined the game at Chapter 3 finally doesn't have to backgrind himself to chapter 1. This will do the game in the long term only good. I really am baffled by the mindless rage of some people. If iQ was based on the people visiting GWG, I bet some people's iQ here would be close to Einstein's iQ.

A few points:
Buying this pack in no way undermines the effort involved in PvE players obtaining all skills. This pack is PvP only and as such the triumph of completeing your chars skill set (PvE) remains intact.
£23, imo, is a very fair price for the amount of hours/in game money it would take to unlock these skills if you're a PvP only player. To all those bitching that this is too much, get a job, stop buying cigarettes/weed for a few days, have one less pint down the pub for a few weeks etc.. The price of an expansion is really not too much to ask for the hundereds of hours it would take to unlock these.
If you haven't notice, Areanet could easily charge for server time and most of us would still play. We don't play this game because it's free, we play because it's great. Who are we to begrudge them a few dollars for some well thought out optional extras. Emphasis on the word 'optional' there.
For every great implementation A.net achieve, I reada hundered bitchty posts. I guess we can't blame people, it's human nature to complain, but really, if this doesn't affect your in game experience and your whining about it, you're just wasting breath.

Actually i think alot of us here only play because its a good free online game. Sure its a great game but i wouldnt pay to play this game no matter how much i know i love it.If people want to pay to get fully unlocked let them but with the new premades there i dont really see the point when they most likely gonna play one of those premades or something very similar to it.
Off topic i want the divine aura. Why couldnt they add that to the store at guilwars release there were few collectors editions avaiable even before i brought it. I remember the circuit city around my way said they only got 5 copies of it at the release time and i got the game a few weeks after release.

Regardless of how I feel about people who cheat in order to look leet, if you spend 10 bucks on unlocks that take 3 days to farm, you are a f*****g moron. That is all.

You can UAS a class in 3 days, without doing PvE?

Am wavering on both sides, whilst as a pvper I appreciate that now I don't have to grind pve to unlock dervish and paragon... I'm not a hundred percent happy with the change. What i think is bugging me is the cost. Basically it reminds me that we are Anets customers and lets be honest their out to screw us for all they can.

No, it has nothing to do with PvE. It only lets you make pvp characters with those skills. Your PvE characters still have to earn them.

How does having skills make someone leet? That doesnt even make sense. You talk like one of those PvE hardcores who doesnt know anything about PvP or understand how hard it is to get into PvP for a new player when you are behind 3 chapters and 1000 skills.
I suggest killing some scary goblins with your fiery dragon sword to make you feel better.

Its definitely a step in the right direction for Anet. Now just make them reasonable on cost and people will consider it. For prophecies it is a bit different, because there were so many good prophecies only skills. For factions, it really isn't bad at all to get slow unlocks because you aren't missing much. I assume Nightfall will be the same way. With the new premades being good, this is even less of a big deal, since you can just buy skills to mix and match off the premades.

this just affirms my stance on another topic, where someone was complaining about too much content too often for their pve chars to keep up.
what is the point of taking more than one char through the whole game? use a main char to get items and such for your pvp chars through the storyline. what you don't want "collect" in pve for your account, you can buy for your account.
although, i wish their was a little bit of an advantage of getting skills through pve. but all in all, i think it is a great idea.
i too want ANET to make money, I think they have been more than FAIR with the game so far, if they don't make money then GW goes bye bye, I myself would like to be playing this game in 5-7 years from now.
